Scriptures for the Sermon:

Romans 8:18-19 – “For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have …the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Wretched and miserable man that I am! Who will [rescue me and] set me free from the body of death [this corrupt, moral existence]? Thanks be to God [for my deliverance] through Jesus Christ our Lord? Amen.”

Romans 8:1-11 – “There is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. It cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not int he flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”

Romans 6:1-2 – “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?”

Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we ae God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Hebrews 8:12 – “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

Psalm 103:12 – “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

8:15 – “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry ‘Abba Father.'”

Ephesians 1:13 – “When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.”

2 Corinthians 1:22 – “He set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”

John 5:24 – “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, the person who hears My work [the one who heeds My message], and believes and trusts in Him who sent Me, has (possesses now) eternal life [that is, eternal life actually begins – the believe is transformed], and does not come into judgment and condemnation, but has passed [over] from death into life.”Show More
